We are safe.
Apparently, a tornado visited our neighborhood and destroyed some homes, roofs, garages, and fences, but we appear to have been spared. We lost the tree in the back yard and some shingles from the roof, but it appears that all else is as well as can be expected. Cameron said a special prayer Friday night that our house wouldn't get "blown away" and we are grateful for the faith of a six year old.
I understand there is no electricity. The city has issued an order to boil water from the city's supply before ingesting. The food in my freezer is defrosting and causing a puddle on my kitchen floor.
We are very fortunate to have been spared and are grateful to our Heavenly Father for the blessings we have received at this time.

Glad you all are safe and no major damage has happened. My friend in Missouri City lost their roof in their bathroom and have major leaking in their walls on top of their yard being a mess. Hurricanes suck!
Depending on how long you are away you may need to get a new fridge. When the power was off to our garage freezer, the smell was so bad we had to get rid of the whole freezer. No Arm & Hammer to the rescue! (or vinegar, or soap & water, or deodorizers of any kind. It was the grossest thing we have ever dealt with!) Any idea when you'll try to go back? What about the kids' school? XOXO mom
I've got people working on the fridge/freezer situation.
Right now school is closed until further notice.
We'll come back probably sometime this week.
I heard just this morning that they were still turning people away, but maybe that was just Galveston.
