... Katelyn and I were seated next to Chad and one of his friends while we "watched" the Super Bowl. During one of the commercial breaks, we both noticed an actor from a movie we enjoyed involved in what appeared to be a significant battle sequence. The final scene of the commercial ended with a screen similar to this:
We both looked at each other excitedly because we didn't realize another of the Chronicles had been made into a movie.
After Chad noticed our reaction and what it was in response to, he turned to his friend and called us "dorks" or "nerds". I was so traumatized at the time that I can't recall which it was.
Fast forward appx. 3 months to May. Katelyn received a letter stating that because of her exemplary behavior and grades during the past school year, she and others with similar accomplishments were invited to attend a screening of the movie we had been awaiting, Prince Caspian.
She was so excited and invited me to come along as a chaparone. Of course I accepted her invitation.
Today was the day of the "field trip" as the school so delicately put it. They didn't really seem to want to call attention to the fact that this was no mere "field trip", but more a reward for the kids who had really worked hard during the entire year.
Anyway, the movie was great! Because our group was the only one in the theater, we were able to cheer for the good guys and boo the bad ones. It was a really fun morning and it was great to be able to spend that time with Katelyn in her element with her friends.
I loved it and it will probably be the one we go see on the last day of school, as is our tradition.

jennelle and the rest of the 6th grade at her school had a similar "field trip" yesterday. they spent the remainder of the day at the local park eating a picnic lunch and launching "rockets" they had fashioned out of pressurized 2 liter bottles filled with water. it was a really educational experience, im sure.
