Today I'm so impressed with Katelyn's YW teacher/counselor. We had a lesson today about honesty, and I have never witnessed Katelyn participate so much.
At the beginning of the lesson, Sis. Baker showed a container full of gumballs and promised them one for each lie they told, the lying liars! The girls were taken aback a bit, but were certainly interested in what Sis. Baker had to say.
Then, she began to relate a "What if..." story. What if an older boy invited you to attend the "Twilight" movie (that you desperately want to see) as a date? And you agree? Who do you lie to first?
You lie to your mom when you tell her you will be spending the night at a friend's house - eat a gumball. You lie to the boy when you say it will be okay with your mom - eat another gumball. You ask your friend to lie to cover for you - have another. You lie to your mom the next morning when she asks how your night was, what was for dinner, what you did - really, take another gumball.
By the end of the scenario, each of the girls were chewing about eight gumballs. They agreed that there was a certain excitement in choosing the first gumball, but by the time the story was over, it had gotten old. It was such a chore to chew all the gum that represented all the lies they had told. They had experienced a very real example of the benefits of being honest in their lives.
I am so happy that Sis. Baker is Katelyn's teacher. What a wonderful lesson!

They sound like wonderful women! We love having wonderful examples of womanhood in the lives of our daughters!!!
